A scenic village on the banks of the River Kushavati in Goa's Salcete taluka (sub-district). Chandor (then known as Chandrapur) was the Capital of the Kadamba kingdom as late as the 11th century.

  • The Braganza house is spectacular, and well worth a visit. Senhor Braganza, who now lives in Brasil, happened to be visiting his ancestral home the day I went there. I asked him what his family's wealth was based on, and he said "Rice and coconuts." Translation -- they owned all the land.
