This is as close as you get on the public tour, fifty meters from the building, on our visit in 2006 we could see workmen on the roof of nthe building. The workmen can only do a twenty minute shift.

    You obviously need to read more.The place is still being used.Look at the monument photos.If it would be abandoned,then why are there security cameras,barbed wire fences and traffic lights?

    This is definitely more than 50 metres away from the sarcophagus. About 150 - 200.

    Just measured it with the Ruler Tool, turns out to be 290m at the shortest. Both guesses are way out.

    There is still a lot going on there. Workers is renovating the sarcophagus and most of buildings around it. (When i was there, 1 month ago, there was workers putting a new roof on one of the bigger buildings next to the parking lot.) And there is a lot of work going on building the foundation to the new sarcophagus. When i think about it, i saw more people her then in the rest of the zone, including the town of chernobyl.
