  • Once adjacent to the edge of Lake Washington, now 25 feet lower thanks to the Ship Canal, the park was also once home to a magnificent old growth forest. Early in the 20th century, that forest was clear cut to generate revenue for the city, but over time large second growth trees have grown in the ravine. A lovely trail for walking and bicycling follows the stream to a series of mosquito breeding ponds at its southern boundary.
  • A splendid site for fall birdwatching, as it seems to be a target for migrating birds. A number of raptors winter in the part. It is peculiarly deficient in insect life, the stream has none of the frogs or turtles one might expect. The variety of mosses is particularly fine.
  • Great place to spend time all year around. Live Action Role Players make use of the park on Sundays and are a hoot to watch.
