The buildings, which currently is housed the National Archives, were originally owned by the chapter of Ronse. In the 19th century, different parts of it transformed into a factory (factory-Cambier Robette).

The house of the provost was during the course of this century rebuilt in a simulated traditional sandstone style. In the impost of the door was cut the year 1696.
The small complex consists of four wings, planted in a rectangle around a courtyard. Originally it was probably on four sides surrounded by a wide moat.
