Established by an Ordinance promulgated by the Governor of Kerala, is situated at Thrissur, Kerala, India. The territorial jurisdiction of the University extends to the whole of the State of Kerala.

It affiliate all Colleges in Kerala imparting professional education in health care, including Ayurveda, Dental, Homoeopathy, Modern Medicine, Naturopathy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Siddha, Unani, Yoga and other Paramedical and Allied Science Colleges. Currently there are 189 affiliated Colleges in the University.
