The Jain Samaj centre, in a converted 19th-century congregational church, was opened in 1988. The first of its kind outside India, the chapel has been almost totally rebuilt to contain an amalgan of Eastern styles in mirrored walls and Christian style stained glass depicting Jain scenes. There are 108 beautiful pillars and carvings made from more than 250 tonnes of sandstone
