  • This is the best Ghost Town in Colorado! Some of the original houses are available for rent, and the General Store is still in operation; renting ATVs/Jeeps, selling camping supplies/food, and providing information on the area for hiking, 4-wheeling, and hunting. Several campgrounds are very close to St. Elmo, as is the abandoned Mary Murphy mine & mill. It's well-worth the trip to see St. Elmo alone, as is the mine and surrounding area. BTW, in front of St. Elmo's General Store, there are several hummingbird feeders which during the summer are completely swarmed by hummingbirds. The store also sells chipmunk feed, and visitors can feed the hundreds of chipmunks by hand. The little rodents will climb on visitors and sit right in their palms eating the seeds!
