  • Singhpur is believed to be the Capital of king Singh Bahu of Kalinga who was contemporary of Lord Buddha and Bimbisar of Rajgriha, later termed as patli Putra now Modern Patna of Bihar. Singh Bahu's exiled his son Prince Vijaya along with his 700 followers who reached Srilanka across Bay of Bengal. they reached near Anuradhapura and termed it Tamraparni, Prince Vijaya and his followers later on gave rise to what is called Sinhalese race. The archeological Department has been requested to dig out the site to find the exact location of the palace of Singh Bahu at Singhpur near Jajpur of Odisha.
