Habitation mound of the ancient city of Qadesh (Kadesh, Qidsha, Kinza), an important center of Bronze-Age Syria. Site of a battle fought on the northwestern side of the city in 1275 or 1274 BC between Rameses II of Egypt and Muwattalli II of Hatti. In the Greco-Roman period, this was the site of the city of Laodicea ad Libanum.
