Nandail Upazila (Mymensingh district) with an area of 326.13 sq km, is bounded by Ishwarganj upazila on the north, Hossainpur and Kishoreganj sadar upazilas on the south, Kendua and Tarail upazilas on the east, Trishal and Gafargaon upazilas on the west. Old Brahmaputra and Narasunda rivers are al most dead; noted depressions are Talar Kur, Zilla Beel, Hamai Beel, Aralia Beel, Balda Beel and Tongi Beel.
Nandail (Town) consists of 9 wards and 20 mahallas. The area of the town is 13.05 sq km. It has a population of 28045; male 50.34%, female 49.66%. Density of population is 2149 per sq km. The literacy rate among the town people is 37.5%.
The geographic coordinates of Nandail town are 24.570205N 90.6873781E degree. Nandail thana, now an upazila, was established in 1912. The upazila consists of 12 union parishads, 163 mouzas and 272 villages.
Archaeological relics and monuments Muazzamabad Mosque (1493-1519), tomb and khanqah of Jahangir Shah, a companion of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R), at Jahangirpur village.
Historical events: The love story of the dramatic epic Malua (Malua Pala) of the Mymensingh Gitika (ballads) belongs to Nandail. Muazzmabad (now Muazzampur) was the Administrative head quarters of East Bengal during the rein of Alauddin Hussain Shah. In the eighteenth century when the British established Neel Kuthi (indigo centre) at Deoanganj Bazar of Nandail Indigo Revolt started in the area.
Religious institutions: Mosque 445, temple 6, most noted of which are Moazzampur Mosque, Nandail Bazar Baitul Mamur Mosque and Jahangirpur Mosque.
As of 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 328847; male 50.82%, female 49,18%; Muslim 97.32%, Hindu 2.17%, Christian 0.08%, Buddhist 0.09% and others 0.34%.

Educational institutions: college 5, government high school 1, non-government high school 24, madrasa 241, government primary school 115, non-government primary school 63. Noted Educational institutions: Chandipara Government High School (1915).
