Its formed after merging 2 town places 'Punyastambha' and 'Tambilindanapur'.
Big 'Tatabandi' around village and big houses called 'VADA' remarked its glory.

Puntamba Railway Station is also famous one.
Puntamba - Shirdi Railway line is established.
