science, exhibition center
Part of the Carnegie Science Center, Highmark SportsWorks features interactive educational exhibits relating to the science of sports. Three themed areas focus on sports physics, health and medicine, and physical challenges.
The facility opened in late 2009 in replacement of the old UPMC SportsWorks, which was located on the opposite side of North Shore Drive. The old building was demolished to make way for the North Shore Connector, an extension of Pittsburgh's light rail system.
