Confluence of the Allegheny River and Monongahela River, which meet at Pittsburgh's Point State Park to form the Ohio River. In the photo above, the Allegheny is on the left, the "Mon" is on the right, and the newly formed Ohio is in the foreground.

The Allegheny River is about 325 miles long, beginning in central Potter County, Pa. It flows into New York before turning south back into Pennsylvania and flowing to Pittsburgh. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegheny_River

The shorter Monongahela River begins in Fairmont, W.Va., at the confluence of the West Fork and Tygart Valley rivers. It flows 128 miles northward from there to Pittsburgh. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monongahela_River

From Pittsburgh, the Ohio River flows for 981 miles until spilling into the Mississippi River at Cairo, Ill.
