Origin in ancient oratory of the early medieval 'villa Ehinham'

The initially small aisled Romanesque church would already have been established before 973. Addition of the Gothic west tower in 14th-15th. Repair of the tower in 1837, probably due to the installation of a new bell.
However in 1939 the church was substantially enlarged in Romanesque Revival style.
In the 1983-84 restoration of the tower.
