 chapel, Romanesque (architecture)

East of the abbey of Montmajour, the chapel Sainte-Croix, real jewel of the Provençal Romanesque art, cannot escape the look. Its situation is bound to its function of center of pilgrimage and its plan shining in the shape of four leaves reproduces the image of a monumental reliquary. Built towards the end of the XIIth century, ts architecture testifies of the fusion(merger) between an inspiration inherited from the Antique and that stemming from the medieval religious fervour.
