Quaker Bridge (Croton-on-Hudson, New York)

USA / New York / Croton-on-Hudson / Croton-on-Hudson, New York

Quaker Bridge is the only vehicle crossing over the Croton River between the New Croton Dam and the Route 9/9A Highway bridge across the mouth of the river. Since the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001, the roadway across the top of the New Croton Dam has been closed to non-government vehicles. This has made Quaker Bridge the only convenient crossing of the Croton River for many area residents who wish to travel into Croton-on-Hudson.

The bridge was constructed in the late 1800's. It is a steel truss bridge, using steel laced girders. It was recently repaired in late 2009.
