TIGER Super Dual Auroral Radar
This low frequency, (c25MHz), radar observes air movements in the atmosphere over the southern ocean using the Doppler technique. It "sees" around the curvature of the Earth by observing "reflections" in the underside of the ionosphere. (The ionosphere becomes transparent above 30MHz.) It is used in weather forecasting and atmospheric research. Its wavelength is far too long to observe any man-made flying object.
