Further demolition of the building continued through 2006. On Thursday, July 13, 2006, cutting tools used in the demolition produced sparks that ignited debris, which fell from the roof into a portion of the building, causing a three-alarm fire.
The site is a pile of rubble now and, most likely will not be redeveloped until the Interstate 5 freeway widening project at the Artesia Blvd. overpass nears completion. ~phiz 7/28/07
