The Priory (Haywards Heath)

The former Priory of Our Lady of Good Counsel. Built between 1896 and 1898 for a community of nuns from Bruges, this building was also used as Haywards Heath's first Roman Catholic church. The nuns moved to Sayers Common in 1978 and the building has been converted into a restaurant, offices and conference facilities.

The carvery which occupied the former chapel until recently was featured in the 5th Season of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. The show failed to revive the restaurant and the space was then a Tapas restaurant with a catering outfit. In 2010 the tapas restaurant was closed and the building was put up for sale in 2012, it is still up for sale in 2016 before selling for £350,000 in 2017. Planning permission to turn The Priory into apartments was submitted and rejected in 2017.
