Good walking all the way along here, but square misses a major portion, which extends to eastbourne to the east and winchester in the west- the south downs are a long chain of chalk hills which have a national walkway running along the top for approximately 120 miles!
Parliamentry approval for the South Downs National Park was given on 31 March 2009.
The proposed area of the National Park covers the main stretch of the Downs from Eastbourne in the E to Winchester in the W, extended to include the "Western Weald" in West Sussex and Hampshire.
