If you buy a pepper... red, green, or yellow... in the UK, there's a good chance that it was grown here.

The growing is done hydroponically... very sophisticated management to keep the monocultures healthy. Care is also taken of the environment; water which has flowed over the plants' roots is not just released into the local watertable. (There are commercial reasons as well as moral and legal considerations... Regulation by self interest- always best.)
