Dega (also spelled as Daga) is one of the many islands found in Lake Tana. It is home to Dega Estifanos Monastery and St. Estifanos Church. Amongst the island monasteries of Lake Tana, Dega Estifanos is the third most popular site to visit. Although the island is open to all visitors, access to the monastery is limited to male visitors only, as it's one of the ancient sites where
women are still not allowed.
