LIRR - Long Island Rail Road, train station, Colonial Revival (architecture)

Manhasset is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch. Originally built in 1899, after the Manhasset Viaduct was completed in 1898 over Manhasset Valley, extending the line to Port Washington. The current Dutch-colonial station was completed in 1924, and was extended in 1936 to build a stairway to Park Avenue.

In the mid 1920’s, 265 people commuted using the Manhasset station. By 1980, that number had soared to over 2,600 people per day. A renovation was conducted in 2001.

  • Nice looking station. If nobody takes a picture of it, I'll do it the next time I visit Long Island in May 2008.
