Jerabek Elementary School is named in honor of Chauncy I. Jerabek. Mr. Jerabek was the gardener for Mr. Scripps, the man who owned all the area that is today Scripps Ranch. Mr. Scripps hired Mr. Jerabek to plant eucalyptus trees all over the area, which would then be used to make railroad ties. Unfortunately, eucalyptus wood is too soft for railroad ties, and the trees were left standing, hence the many eucalyptus trees of Scripps Ranch.

Once a great place to skateboard. It was known as School W in the late 80's. Since those days, the asphalt has become unskatable and has not been replaced ,and the slopes that made it legendary have been blocked by bungalows. The old balance beam which was perfect for railslides and 50-50's has been removed as well.
