Adyar or Adayar is a large neighborhood south of Chennai (previously Madras) in the state of Tamil Nadu in India.It is one of the greenest areas in Chennai.It is also one of the Posh localities in Chennai. It is located on the southern banks of the Adyar River which joins into the Adyar Creek now being re-constructed as the Adyar Eco Park/ Adyar Poonga. It is bounded by the Buckingham Canal to the west, Tiruvanmiyur to the south, and Besant Nagar to the east.

  • Thumbs up for Adyar!!Excellent place for ppl from outside the state and non-tamil speaking... Very modern, progressive and chic. Certainly my fav in Chennai city. Gandhinagar and Indiranagar areas compete withe Mumbai and Delhi's posh areas... Shopping, foodies, buses and homes,it has it all...

  • Once you live in Adyar - you would not like to live in any other place at Chennai for sure, cospolitan place with proximity to Beach(Besant Nagar) / ECR / OMR (IT Highway) and taking the Metro train you can reach the heart of city in just minutes, It has very good eateries and has become a bigtime shopping area too - I love this place and live here too :)
  • AYYAPPA RAMALINGAM n18/o50 G>S.NORTH STREET MANNARGUDI 614001 i had an oppurtunity to reside at adyar[ no 8 kapaleeswarar appartments third manin road]gandhi nagar when i was transferred to chennai from state bank of india m.k university branch madurai to sbi chennai lho in the year1988. from 1988 to 1993 i was residing at the above address. aready my brother k.a ragasamy professor cpt adyar and my nephew balabaskaran pro. iit chennai were nearby my residence. this has made my stay at adyar was memorable one. adyar is beatuful place. gandhi nagar is a serene place though is in the the heart of adyar.i was for full five years at chennai. the stay at chennai will be ever green in my memory YYAPPA RAMALINGAM 27/08/2008
