Snowhill (Birmingham)

United Kingdom / England / Birmingham
store / shop, hotel, office building, apartment building

One of the biggest developments in the city centre, this will feature three major buildings. Two will be office blocks with a leaning façade facing the side of Snow Hill Station and the flat façade facing Lloyd House. The third building will be a 43 storey, hotel and residential twin tower complex designed by Glenn Howells. The apartments will be in the larger of the two towers which will be connected by a curved double height bridge at ground level. The space to the back is intended for the new Midland Metro extension and public open space. All this will be flat despite the steep gradient of the land due to the sandstone central city ridge.

This development will provide much needed office space to Birmingham. The nearby Colmore Plaza recently sold for £150 million whilst it is still under construction. The road it is on will become an economic spine for Birmingham providing Grade A office space leading down to the Eastside and introducing office space to the developing Eastside.

The site is being developed by Ballymore who recently purchased 1-3 Colmore Row at Snow Hill Station main entrance. A public exhibition showing the new twin towers was held here. Development of the building has not been planned.
