Modern Press Building (Saskatoon)

With the creation of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, the farmer-oriented "Progressive" newspaper sought out the Pool as its official sponsor. This became a reality in 1924 and the name of the paper was changed to The Western Producer to avoid confusion with the Progressive Party. In the early 1930s the Pool acquired Modern Press and took over publication of The Western Producer.

The Modern Press Building was built in 1947 as one of Saskatoon's best examples of Streamline Moderne architecture. It was the printing and publishing arm of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and one of the most modern printing shops in Canada. It's best known publication was The Western Producer, though it printed many other prairie publications, including books. In 1993 Atomic Energy Canada Limited renovated the building for the CANDU 3 design team.

The facade was altered in conjunction with the construction of the adjacent Nexus Building around 2014.
