The hampstead heath expansion was largely instigated by the efforts of Henrietta Barnett, who would later go on to aid in the creation of the Neighboring Hampstead Garden Suburb.
Due to the fact that many tube expansions created the need for housing in the area, Mrs. Barnett quickly bought up the land, which otherwise would be used as a housing development, thus foiling the scheme to place a Tube Station (North End AKA Bull and Bush), which would almost certainly be closed due to a lack of passengers.
