The Aimols, one of the Scheduled tribes of the Indian Union, inhabit three (3) districts in Manipur, a state of India. According to the estimation of the Aimol Tribe Union in 1995, their population was about 3,300 but the 1981 census indicated their population as being 1862. They are mainly concentrated in the Chandel District of the state and occupy foothill areas bordering the valley in the southeastern part. The villages wherein the Aimols are mostly distributed in the state of Manipur are Unapal, Satu, Kumbirei, Chingnunghut, Tampak, Khodamphai, Ngairong , Chandonpokpi, Soibong (Khudengthabi) at the Chandel District and Kha-Aimol, Luichulbum village at the Churachandpur district and Tuikhang Village at Senapati District.
