226 x 30 foot sign that by day appears as a gray-and-white mosaic cryptically spelling the name "Pittsburgh" and by night displays various messages in neon. Many residents still think of it as the "Alcoa sign" as it was sponsored by the aluminum giant between 1967 and 1992. Bayer Corporation took over the sign the year thereafter.
