18th century prison building. The ground level has been altered along this road so what was once the basement level is now the ground floor. The original front entrance is now on the first floor level.
Sometimes referred to as the new prison it was replaced by the old Jail at Twerton across the other side of town it has now been converted with much of the rest of Grove Street for residential use.
