Site of the American Civil War Battle of Farmer's Bridge. On May 15, 1864, 50 Confederate soldiers put up an ill-fated defense of the bridge against 3,000 cavarymen commanded by Colonel Robert H. G. Minty who was looking for a suitable place for the Union Army to cross the Oostanaula River during the Atlanta Campaign. The graves of 10 Confederate soldiers are at the top of the cemetery hill overlooking the site of the old bridge.
