Ostrich Farm (Khust)

Ukraine / Zakarpatska / Khust
 interesting place, ostrich farm

Ostrich Farm in Hust opened in 2002 on the northern outskirts of the city, in the vicinity of the detour road. Businessman Vasiliy Perets purchased his first ostriches in neighboring Slovakia. Now the population is 26 birds. Birds are grown for sale, but there are also excursions for tourists. A female ostrich incubates about 60 eggs per year, one weighs 1.5-2 kg (one ostrich egg substitutes 36 chicken eggs). The taste of ostrich eggs is identical to those of chicken, and meat is similar to veal. On the farm you can buy eggs and feathers of ostriches. Because the birds are omnivores, you can bring any food, especially bread, apples and cabbage.
