Wroxton ironstone mine was opened in about 1915 and was the village's prime employer until it's closure in the mid 1960's. A new quarry was opened in the 2000's and uses road transport to move it's loads. Sections of the former railway it once had to the Alcan works at Banbury are now a public right of way.
