Lake Washington is the largest lake in Brevard County, Florida at 4,362 acres (17.65 km²). The lake may have been named for the U.S. Deputy Surveyor Colonel Henry Washington, after he surveyed the area in 1844.
Lake Washington is the main source for drinking water by Melbourne and some surrounding communities.

  • The lake was named after the one time owner of the land that is now Lake Washington. George Washinton Hopkins. Lake washington was pasture land until it was damned to create a resovoir for the Melbourne area's drinking water.
