It is a beautiful lake situated in SAKHARAYAPATNA & it was built by the king RAJA SAKHARAYA. It is surrounded by mountains in three sides. Beside it there is a beautiful mountain known by the name SHAKUNAGIRI, in which you can get water at the top of the mountain. It is a peaceful place, please don't spoil the inherent peace & beauty of the nature.

Ayyaankere is one of the biggest lakes in Chikmagalore. The water from it is used for irrigating thousands of acres of Arecanut plantations in the surrounding areas of Sakarayanapattana.

  • It is not Sagani, but Shakuni Ranganatha as I understand it. Apparently it does give out a lot of Shakunas.

  • Actually it was built by a king named Narasimha Deva in 1156bc in order to store the rain water in monsoon and make it available for farmers in summer..
