Major Irrigation Dam.

Bhadra Dam Right Bank Power House:
The Bhadra Dam Right bank power house accommodates one unit of 7.2 MW capacity coupled to a Kaplan-type turbine and one 6 MW unit which is coupled to the same type of turbine. These units will utilise the irrigation releases to be let into the right bank canal. The 6 MW capacity generating unit was commissioned on 29.03.1998.

Bhadra Dam Left Bank Power House:
The Bhadra Dam left bank power house integrates two 12 MW river bed units and one 2 MW canal unit. The 2 MW capacity unit is a Horizonal Francis design and the river bed units are based on the Vertical-Kaplan design. The river bed units operate when the dam reaches overflow levels or when downstream areas need a water flow. The left bank canal unit utilises the irrigation releases for power generation.
