The goddess available here is Muthu Mari. She is very powerful and takes care of the people. She saves the people from all worries, Diseases and problems. The history is long long ago a small girl grown in the town. She had extraodinary skills to help people. She was executed by some mischievous people and became a goddess and helping the people in the country.
Yearly during Tamil month "Panguni" big festival will be celebrated for her. It includes "Theei Chati"(Carrying fire pots in hand, "Karumbu thoti" (People don't have child will pray the god by carrying a caddle made of Sugarcane, "Mulaipari" this will be the last event of the festival where people will catty small plants in pots and carry it to Gundaru river with family and gather at the shore and pray the god.
This temple is maintained by Nadar community.
