Mirpur Upazila (Kushtia district) with an area of 317.35 sq km, is bounded by Bheramara and Ishwardi upazilas on the north, Alamdanga and Kushtia sadar upazilas on the south, Kushtia sadar upazila on the east, Daulatpur (Kushtia), Gangni and Alamdanga upazilas on the west.
The location of the Mirpur town is 23.9404658N 88.9955556E. Mirpur (Town) consists of 9 wards and 13 mahallas. The area of the town is 6.81 sq km. The population of the town is 19076; male 52.27%, female 47.73%; density of population is 2801 per sq km. The literacy rate among the town people is 36.7%. The town has a dakbungalow.
Mirpur thana was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 1 municipality, 13 union parishads, 122 mouzas and 197 villages.
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 266046; male 51.76% and female 48.24%; Muslim 97.32%, Hindu 2% and others 0.68%.
