This state-owned tract is within the Everglades Agricultural Area south of Lake Okeechobee. The land was formerly managed by FL FWCC as Lake Harbor Public Waterfowl Area, which was created in 1987 using Ducks Unlimited funds. It was used for waterfowl hu nting and to assess feasibility of a rice/crawfish polyculture as an alternative to sugar cane.
