Created in 1973 by Ducks Unlimited Canada in co-operation with the Government of British Columbia, the Serpentine Fen Bird Sanctuary provides a place for birds & wildlife to rest during their migration routes.

The park encompasses 71.3 hectares (176 acres) of land plus over 4 km of trails, as well, visitors can visit three wooden lookouts which provide an elevated viewpoint to spot birds above the vegetation.

From September to October, birdwatchers can spot Great Blue Herons, birds of prey such as hawks, eagles & falcons, ducks, geese & small songbirds. Other animals that call the park home include coyotes, seals, rabbits, muskrat, amphibians, reptiles, fish and insects.
