Oconee Nuclear Station was the first of three nuclear stations designed, built and operated in the late 60s and early 70s by Duke Power. Located on Lake Keowee in Oconee County, South Carolina, which was build to provide cooling water and the steam for the steam generator, the facility is eight miles north of Clemson. Oconee has safely and reliably generated more than 500 million megawatt-hours of electricity—the first nuclear station in the United States to achieve this milestone.

  • If you're really interested in what the area looks like but you cannot see due to pointless blurring, the area is now up in Bing Maps' Bird's Eye View.
  • In Google Earth if Historical Imagery is enabled you get unblurred imagery as recent as 2008(imagery shown here is from 2004 it says) Same with the nearby dam.
