Valentyn Hlushko (Russian transliteration Valentin Glushko, 1908-1989) was a Soviet engineer and designer of rocket engines during the Soviet/American Space Race, who was born and studiad in Odesa, then worked in Russia.

In 1938 he became caught up in Joseph Stalin's Great Purge, then he was put to work on various aircraft projects with other arrested scientists.
In 1941 he was placed in charge of a design bureau for liquid-fueled rocket engines.
In 1944 he was released, and he continued his work with Sergei Korolev.
He died on 10 January 1989 (aged 80) in Moscow.
