879 East Hastings, near Campbell. Computer recycling place, with used materials made available for sale to the public, for a very low price. CAUTION: This is a budget outlet, and pretty well anything sold is of low to medium quality. However, prices reflect the low-end refurbished/used equipment available here. Any computer obtained here has a legal copy of Windows installed, but there is no provision for a backup or install CD. Any problem must be dealt with thru their extended warranty plan, or totally by yourself. Known for occasional variable/inconsistent pricing. Get everything on paper, and be sure to obtain a receipt, in case there's any question as to goods, prices or services which one may need. It's in the DTES; whaddaya expect?

  • bob should pop his head out of his butt and reprice his stuff to half of what it costs now. he sells regular 1024 pixel screens that are 5 years old scratch-and-dirties for $90, but ncix recently had a sale and 21 inch, 1080p LG and samsung monitors were $150. anitec had philips 19 inch 1080p for $90. and there's a reason people buy recent new stuff. the only good stuff reboot has is the cords and plugs under $10. the computers he foists off onto ignorant local residents are used low-end footwarmers, and he makes good money from the extended warranty for his insecure and unconfigured windows installations. he has a lot of staff and volunteer turnover; once they see the real deal, they take off for greener pastures. new items and laptops are often discontinued/low-end trash. the repairs are done uncleanly by kids and cost the same as at other, reputable places. at least 2 locations across the road openly sell drugs. hookers hang out in the back alley. deals can be "flexible" and verbal-only, usually a bad sign. reboot and freegeek both have OK used parts and small accessories, but you'd be much better wisely shopping elsewhere for very little extra cost, and you'd have a much better custom machine in the end. for example, the difference between a used p4/dualcore and something much better, is the cost of a quadcore processor and a motherboard. send your grandma to reboot, but stick to the regular parts businesses in other places. no wonder the guys that still consent to work for him laugh at him. some of the casual, irregular workers have diverted a lot of cool stuff, one piece at a time, to the garbage area. later, the stuff is collected and sold for cheap on the streets of the DTES. bob's a bad joke with a weak punchline.
