A Superfund clean-up site. The former owners of this landfill took liquid hazardous waste and poured it into the trash. Later, through a series of legal tricks, they walked away from all financial responsibility. This is one of the sites that caused the Superfund law to be enacted. For many years this area smelled very badly. The EPA came in in the late 1990's and has addressed the issues.
