I don't get out there much anymore, but it is a fine breakfast/lunch place. The food's great, the specials are great, and the waitstaff are real professionals. You'll get the feeling that everybody is happy to work there, and when you get to know Linda, the owner, you see why. This place is so successful that she decided a year or two back to close on Sundays so that all the help could have at least one weekend day off each week. No other breakfast/lunch place in the county does that. But Linda can, and does.
Some things to know:
Get there before 7:30, and you won't have to wait. Sometimes eight.
Linda was originally a partner in the Seabreeze Cafe in Santa Cruz, and left to buy her own place. The food and service are all very similar to the Seabreeze, although there's more variety for lunch. So if you like the one, you'll like the other.
Sometimes you can beat the line by telling the hostess that you're fine with sitting at the community table, a big round table in the middle of the floor where individuals, couples, and even trios can sit. It's like a free-floating counter. Also put "Community OK" next to your name on the wait list. Sometimes we've vaulted straight to the head of the line ahead of 10 or 20 other parties because the hostess knew we were willing to sit at community. You meet some interesting people at that table, too!
