NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, veterinary clinic / surgery, closed / former military, historic landmark
The Type 6 Station Veterinary Clinic Surgical Building was originally built during WWII to handle horse and mule surgical procedures. Horses and mules would be strapped to a table in a vertical position, then maneuvered in a horizontal position. This building was later converted into a small animal clinic in 1946 and all equine-related veterinary equipment was removed. Starting in the late '40s, the Army started adding kennels. These were also used by the 25th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon and, much later, by Monterey County Animal Services.
