The 56th Guards Separate Air Assault Brigade Division is a military formation of the Russian Airborne Troops.In December 1979 the brigade was put in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan and joined the 40 th Army. Since 1982, the brigade was stationed in the town of Gardez. Now based in Russia, Volgograd region.
