145-foot, 12-story Beaux-Arts hotel completed in 1903. Designed by Buchman & Fox, it opened as the Hotel Le Marquis. It is clad in rusticated limestone, painted at the ground floor. The central entrance, up a short set of steps, has double-doors with sidelights and transom framed in brass. The entry is flanked by fluted pillars with light fixtures, and covered by a fluted metal marquee with finials lining the top edges. To the left of the entrance are two windows, and on the right is another window and a narrow entrance door to the restaurant, with its own small set of steps.
The 2nd floor has a round-arch above the entrance, and two windows with bracketed sills on either side. Four flagpoles are mounted around the outer windows. Large console brackets, alternating in pairs and singles, support a balustraded balcony at the 3rd floor. This floor has paired segmental-arched windows in three bays. At the top of this floor are three elaborately carved bases for projecting, cast-iron bay windows that run from the 4th-7th floor. The three bays end at the 8th floor in segmental-arches with keystones, above the projecting bay windows.
The 9th floor has paired, recessed windows in stone surrounds; between them are large, ornate console brackets supporting a stone cornice with large modillions. Above, the crown has paired windows in three bays with ornamented piers. A final cornice sets off the mansard roof, pierced by three dormers with rounded pediments and large cartouches.
The eastern elevation is clad in buff-colored brick, with a wide but shallow light court at the center. There is one bay of double-windows at the north and south ends, and additional windows in the light court, the southern half of which is covered by a metal fire escape. The hotel had 138 guest rooms, but was converted into a shelter in 2019.
