Aditmari Upazila (Lalmonirhat district) with an area of 195.03 sq km is bounded by Dinhata Thana of Kuchbihar district of India on the north, Gangachara upazilaon the south, Lalmonirhat sadar upazila on the east and Kaliganj upazila on the west. The Tista, Trimohoni and Dharla rivers cause basinal flood every year. Rivers Sharnamati and Marashati are silted and almost dead. Main depression: Namurir Beel; silted depressions are Bungchuki Beel and Galandi Beel.
Aditmari is located at 25.9250°N 89.3500°E. It has 33343 units of house hold. Aditmari (Town) consists of three mouzas. It has an area of 15.98 sq. km. The town has a population of 15742, male 51.3%, female 48.7%; density of population is 985. Literacy rate among the town people is 20.1%.
Aditmari thana, now an upazila, was established in 1980. The upazila consists of 8 union parishads, 58 mouzas, 106 villages and 3 enclaves.
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 176760: male 51.2%, female 48.8%; Muslim 80%; Hindu 19%, ethnic and others 1%; ethnic nationals- Koch and Rajbanshi.
Average literacy 18.6%: male 25.5%, female 11.3%. Educational institutions: college 2, high school 16, Junior school 10, madrasa 10, government primary school 43, non-government primary school 64; noted institutions: Badai Girija Shankar High School (1942), Aditmari Kanteshwar Barman Girls' School.
Religious institutions: Mosque 520, temple 75, tomb 1; most noted of which are Aditmari Jami Mosque, Bateshwar Temple.
Main occupations Agriculture 56.28%, agricultural labourer 25.87%, commerce 7.27%, wage labourer 2%, service 2.16% others 6.42%.
